Red snapper is one kind of reef fish. They live amongst or in close relation to coral reefs. There are a great many varieties of Red snapper, including crimson, mangrove snapper, Tropical Red snappers. All Red snappers are available year round and its sizes from 500g to 1kg, which provide portion size whole fish, and fillets.
Red snapper requires careful cooking to avoid drying out. Its texture is quite firm. Red snapper has flaky white meat when cooked, with a distinctive sweet taste. Red Snapper has a milder flavor than other fish, making it a staple on many restaurant menus and in many homes. Red snapper is usually served with its attractive skin on, which can be eaten – but don’t forget to de-scale.
Red Snappers can be grilled, pan-fried, baked, roasted, barbecued (whole fish only), and will take as much flavour as you can throw at it. Use lots of chilli, garlic, lime, coriander – Red snapper even works well with curry flavours.
Red Snapper cooks quickly in a hot pan and you can season and flavor the dish to your liking or serve it simply and let the flavor of the fish shine.
Red snapper also has a mild flavor, so diners who are wary of the dreaded “fishy” taste can also enjoy the dish. You can grill a whole red snapper or fillets.
